St. Patrick's Day Activities

We are just a few days away form the first day of Spring and St. Patrick's Day. Flowers are blooming inside and out. I always buy my traditional St. Patrick's Day Shamrock ( Oxalis regnellii) from my local grocery store usually the week before St. Patrick's Day. The leaves are shaped like clover and fold up at night, as if they are praying. I love the the small white blooms that the shamrock gives when in sunlight.
For me, the blooming shamrock is one of the first signs of Spring and the hope that warmer, longer days are just around the corner.
So......buy a Shamrock . Visit Gardening Know How to learn how to take care of this little pretty.

Get creative with the plain plastic wrapped sugar cookie dough that you find in the store. Use your heart cookie cutter to make shamrock cookies. Then decorate, decorate!

Visit Sugar Productions to see how she makes the stem and other ways of decorating ....that you might not have thought about.

Now, get out all of those leftover Christmas cookie supplies to make some yummy St.Patrick's Day treats. Do they all have to be shades of green? Why, of course not! Decorate with the colors of the rainbow and of course some gold sprinkles!
