Illustrating My Faith

The following slides are from my presentation this summer about
Illustrating Your Faith with Journaling. Discovering God.

I have many ways that I journal. I use a daily devotional a scripture book, a bible study notebook , a Legacy of Faith journal and my bible. My bible is not a journaling bible, but has been my study bible that I have had since college. I am really enjoying finding creative ways to use it to express my faith and to illustrate how the scriptures look through my eyes.

We can call it all of the above...but it is ALWAYS about our Faith Walk and what it looks like.

When using my daily devotional I usually create some kind of book mark to keep the page. Sometimes I use stamps and other stickers to highlight the page. Stamps, crayons , markers  used here.

This is a page form my Legacy of Faith Journal that I will hand down to my Granddaughter some day. Simply, I record special times that we have shared together and relate them to scripture that she will find comfort in some day.

This is the back of one of the Legacy of Faith pages. Together with my Granddaughter we used water colors to paint with ...we were using different shades of purple. After the paper was dried I cut a heart shape and stamped " hand made with love" We used assorted Alpha stickers to make a fun tag.

I love the idea of just writing out a whole Psalm. Adding some color, stamps and washi tape. Don't be afraid of your own handwriting. Remember , this is for you and your act of worship.

Here I have use a plastic transparency sheet and used water colors applied with a cosmetic sponge. After it dried I applied stickers and attached it to my bible page with washi tape. You can see the text underneath and it flips over to expose the entire page.

I highlighted the scripture that inspired the overlay.

Here is another way I am using the plastic sheets. Bold dark hand lettering on top of water colors.

Here I used a paint sample strip as a book mark to illustrated God's Promise to Noah. Add a tassel. I love these little cuties.

This page was a joint effort with the Granddaughter. We used a butterfly stencil and cosmetic sponges trying out new paint that we purchased at Target. We used the worship folder with one of her favorite praise songs and painted over the words. After drying, we cut it into the shape of a flower and glued it down using a glue stick.

I enjoy placing tabs at the top of my pages. I found this one on Pinterest. My go to place for inspiration and ideas.
Look around on my personal Pinterest page for some great examples of journaling .

Follow Belinda's board journal ideas on Pinterest.

Using notepads to make creative bookmarks is simple and inexpensive. Add a ribbon to hang outside of the page.

Here is another example of making something your own creation. I took a plain white card stock tag and painted it with water colors. Adding a tassel made from a roll of colored string marks the scripture of God's Promise to Noah. Colors of the Rainbow!

Find a free printable like this one to mark special places.

Use doodles to create places to highlight a particular scripture verse.

Here are some fun examples of hand lettering.

This is a great example of note taking, doodles , simple shapes and a personal prayer.

Two different ways of illustrating the scripture.

Examples of covering the whole page using stamps , stencils, stickers and paint. Still being able to read the text.

Tip in a separate journal page to the bible page using washi tape so that in can be turned over.. Love, love washi tape!

Use the worship folder > here I used the prayers and the closing hymn to remember Palm Sunday.

Here is the example of using  a large doily placemat to form a cute envelope. I love to create scripture cards for folks and make this cute envelope as a card holder. Try it!

This is a cute print from Doodle-Art- Alley that can be printed any size for gift giving. Color, write in a scripture for the special person to receive the gift and make the cute doily envelope for gift giving.

I hope this has inspired you to jump in and share you faith through the creative hands that God has blessed you with.
It's A Good Thing!

Illustrating Bloom and Strength, using alpha stickers, assorted scrapbook supplies, water colors...with too much water  as you can see on the wrinkled page...but all is well as I love the colors . They remind me of the sunrise and the sunset of each day. The stamps are from the Bloom bible study. Visit Illustrates Faith and you will see a link to shop and that will take you to the etsy store where you can purchase if you choose.

I am in love with illustrated faith, art journals, bible doodles.....whatever you call it, however you express it...I am so in love with it. Enjoy this "Pray" Doodle Art from Doodle Art Alley.
